NHL Playoffs: Pens roll, Melrose rocks lavender sportscoat

OK, first things first. We were too busy watching the Lakers implode Thursday night to catch Pittsburgh’s 7-4 romp over Carolina in Game 2 of the NHL Eastern Conference finals. We did catch the recap on Sportscenter, however, and learned a couple of interesting things:

- Evgeni Malkin scored a hat trick, including a suh-weet backhander past Cam Ward late, to help the Pens grab a 2-0 series lead.

- ESPN analyst Barry Melrose continued his sartorial assault on unsuspecting viewers by pulling his patented lilac-colored sportscoat out of mothballs. Nice. He’s becoming Don Cherry’s less-homoerotic little brother right before our eyes.

- Malkin powers Pens past Hurricanes (Pensburgh)
