NBA playoffs: LeBron’s Friday Night Miracle

One thing is certain. The columnists and ESPN blowhards will fall over themselves proclaiming LeBron’s game-winner over Orlando (video below) in Friday’s Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Conference finals to be the most significant shot since Jordan juked Ehlo and doomed (ahem) the Cavaliers back in ‘89.

But let’s all take a deep breath. James’ shot was scintillating, yes. Hell, this Poopmeister can’t even remember the last time an NBA shot actually got him off the couch in excitement. Jordan’s shot, however, clinched a series for the Bulls (albeit a first-round one, they eventually lost to Chuck Daly’s Pistons in the conference finals). LeBron’s stunner simply helped the prohibitive series favorites save face after nearly squandering a double-digit lead for the second time in three days.

With the series now tied 1-1, James’ Cavs still have a lot of work to do in this series. And thus far, in spite of LeBron’s spectacular shot, Cleveland has supplied more questions than answers against a talented Orlando team.

In other words, it’s too early to tell whether LeBron’s shot will prove to be a defining moment. But it damn sure perked up our Friday night.
