White Sox yearn for simpler days of gambling scandals, national shame

Hey, we’ve all had bad days before. Spilling coffee on your crotch while driving to the office. Dog crap on the family heirloom rug. It happens.

And then there are days like the Chicago White Sox had on Thursday. First, the star pitcher to which you’ve hog-tied your hopes and dreams snubs you for a city named after a whale’s vagina. Then, your fans watch haplessly as your division rivals get gassed running around the bases in a 20-1 drubbing.

I guess we can’t officially say it was the worst day in franchise history, what with that whole national scandal that nearly brought the game to its knees thing way back when … but it’s a safe bet it’s in the top 5.
