We thought minor league baseball was fan friendly

When we were scanning the sports transactions from Wednesday, this item from the American Association baseball league caught our attention:

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CAPTAINS-Released INF BJ Wheeler and RHP BJ Litchfield. Signed INF Bryan Sabatella.

Now, don’t get us wrong. We love minor league baseball. It’s hard to top a night of fun at an affordable price than a trip to a minor league park. But this news has us at a loss.

We’re not sure what’s wrong with the fine folks in Shreveport-Bossier, and we have nothing against Mr. Sabatella, but getting rid of two BJs in one day just smacks us as anti-American.

Minor league teams are well-known for their offbeat promotions, so we propose a “Bring back the BJs” night at the ol’ ballpark. Half-price beers might be a good way to get things rolling. And we’re sure that the staff (heheh) can think of something interesting to do with hot dogs as well.
